BARBARA SCHILSTRA-SOPRANO

 

Lyric soprano Barbara Schilstra studied piano at the Artez Conservatory in Zwolle before moving to Amsterdam to study classical singing. In 2007 she got her classical singing BMus at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.


As a soloist Barbara has performed with different ensembles, orchestras and choirs.  She sung for example solo parts in Brahm’s “Ein Deutsches Requiem and Beethoven’s 9th symphony.

Recently she sang the rol of Solveigh in the Gelders Orchestra’s production of Grieg’s Peer Gynt.


She followed masterclasses and coaching lessons with  James McCray, prof. Th. Coresi, Nelly Miricioiu and Peter Nilsson.

Since 2009 Barbara is coached by James Mc Cray which is being financially being supported bij the Fonds Podium Kunsten.

In 2011 and 2012 Barbara was a finalist in the Vox Artis International Concours, Romania. In 2012 she won the Pygmalion Theatre Price.


In 2013 Barbara made her debut as Saffi (Zigeunerbaron, Strauss) in Vienna and Germany.
